Marnene Waid
In 1986 I completed my training in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and though it was my desire to work with athletes in that venue, my heart was captured by a group of young autistic children, which I would work with for over the next decade.
I have always had an interest in massage and it's effect on the body, mind and spirit. While working with the kids, it became apparent that "touch" was indeed an important aspect in my work with these special children. I was encouraged to further an education in massage therapy and began formal training at Western College of Therapeutic Massage in 1993. I used my new skills in touch to help bring a sense of peace and well being to the children that I worked with for several more years.
In the summer of 2006 I decided to return to my original love and began to practice massage therapy on a professional level. I teamed with some talented, dynamic ladies and rented a room at the Valley Springs Sports and Fitness Center. Soon after becoming operational we realized there was a demand in this area for the services we provided. Our services and clientele grew so rapidly; we expanded our space and hours. Having been instrumental in the conception and development of that day spa was a great experience, which gave me the tools I needed to venture out on my own and open my own office.
My education is on going, as I strive for growth in my techniques, treatments and client satisfaction. I currently hold certificates in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine, Swedish, Pregnancy and Postpartum, Hot Stone, Advanced Practitioner and Chair massage. I am presently studying Strain-Counter Strain therapy and am very excited about integrating it into my sessions.
